Proletarization

Is this comic gradually turning into a crash course in Marxism? Frankly, I wouldn't do that.

Magnon, all excited, runs toward John-Cro with three gourds in her hands: “John-Cro! Our first vegetables have grown! Look!” John-Cro: “What are those?” Magnon looks at her vegetables: “I don't know, but they're hard and can't be squashed, so I've called them ‘squash’!”
Magnon, beaming: “Quick! Let's go sell these vegetables to pay our rent!” A voice off-screen says: “Hold on!” John-Cro: “What now?”
The landlord arrives: “It's MY field you've been farming! These crops belong to me!” John-Cro, frustrated: “Oh no, not him again!“ Magnon, exasperated: “How many properties do you own, exactly?”
The owner picks up a squash and says: “Loads. Well, since I'm nice, I'll just take one squash for the use of my land.“ John-Cro says: “Um, actually, we wanted to take this opportunity to pay you rent for the cave...” Magnon: “Yeah, since we don't have a choice.”
The owner takes another squash and says, “No problem. That'll be one squash as well. Have a nice day.” Magnon and John-Cro are so stunned that they don't react.
John-Cro and Magnon look at the remaining squash with great frustration. John-Cro: “Is it just me, or is this whole thing one big fucked-up scam?” Note: Comic strip licensed under CC BY SA (grisebouille.net), drawn on October 13, 2025 by Gee.
