Superfluous, sitting in the captain's office, asks, “So, Captain Tidlove, how can I help you?” The captain replies, “Well, it's pretty quiet right now. Apart from cars driving too fast through the village, the law is fairly respected around here.” Superfluous: "Oh yeah, but no... I'm not a speed radar... “ The captain clarifies: “The problem is, you're not empowered to enforce the law, anyway… At best, you can remind offenders of it.“ A little later... Superfluous is standing in front of the Fochougny entrance sign, next to the road, with a sign that reads: “50, slow down in the village! Thanks!” Sophie is bored, sitting in the grass, looking at her cell phone.
