Lost In Translation

Communicating with the neighbor Néandertal isn't easy. But why is that, anyway?

Magnon and John-Cro ask the Tea-Rex: “Hey, Tea-Rex, why does our neighbor speak foreign?” “Whereas we speak normal?” The Tea-Rex replies: “Hahaaa, that's an interesting story!”
Flashback, the drawings turn sepia. “A long time ago, everybody spoke the same language...” Homo sapiens are talking: “Yo.” “Yo.” “Wassup?” “Sup?” ”Yo dude.”
“But one day, the homo sapiens decided to climb a huge tower, just for kicks.” A big tower, with homo sapiens climbing it. A woman says: “My cousin Bah-Bull built it.” A man replies: “Ah, is that Bah-Bull's tower?”
“Without proper climbing equipment, the other shoe dropped: many came a violent cropper to the ground.” The homo sapiens fall on their skulls, shouting, “Ouch!” “Ow!”
“Suffering from concussions, the poor souls uttered gibberish that was referred to as "languages".” The stunned homo sapiens say: “Voo leyvookoo chayha veykmwah.” “Tow dasslass promey sassdeymiah morsey rancon teego!” “ ”Oon ahmatee nahmee sonzvey liahtoh!“ ”Achnaz doorbatoo look!"
End of flashback, back to the Tea-Rex, John-Cro, and Magnon. Magnon, moved, says: “Poor Néandertal...” John-Cro confirms: “He's actually a victim.” The T-Rex adds: “It could have been worse, imagine: he could have spoken German!” John-Cro: “What a nightmare...” " Note: Comic strip licensed under CC BY SA (grisebouille.net), drawn on July 25, 2025 by Gee.
