Let's continue our series on fairy tales by tackling a major problem: when a prince comes to rescue a princess…

A Prince Charming introduces himself to some peasants: “Greetings, bumpkins. I've come to wake the princess, who's been sleeping ever since a wicked fairy pricked her with the spindle of an enchanted spinning wheel!”
A peasant asks: “But why do you want to wake the princess?” Another says: “Yeah? She's fine just the way she is. And we're fine, too, for that matter.”
The prince explains: “Well, once she's awake, I'll marry her, and the two of us will rule. Like "prince and princess", basically.” The peasants: “Oh, right. Rule. Over us, I guess. OK.”
A peasant woman arrives with a spinning wheel and says to the prince: “Just a moment—put your finger here.” The prince pricks his finger on the spindle and yells: “OUCH!”
The prince is asleep on the ground; the peasants look at him, satisfied.
The peasant says: “Happily self-governing for a hundred years… we're sure as hell not gonna get screwed over now.” The other one agrees: ”Yeah, when nobles are asleep, at least they leave us alone.” Note: Comic licensed under CC BY SA (grisebouille.net), drawn on August 17, 2026, by Gee.”
